Where the light lands in August

Late summer is when a poorly shaded room shows itself. We set overhang depth from the sun angle on that specific homesite.

August 2026 · 3 min read

Great room with tall windows and soft late-summer light
Great room · Evening light

The detail

South glazing gets an overhang deep enough to block high August sun while admitting low winter light. West glass is limited or screened, because no overhang stops a setting sun.

Why it matters

The room stays usable at six in the evening without blinds drawn. Floors and fabrics fade less. Cooling runs less.

“No overhang stops a setting sun.”
